The Power of Heat Therapy

Ever wake up in the morning with aching bones or tight, sore muscles? If so, we have a solution for you. Its called Heat Therapy.

Heat therapy, also called thermotherapy, is the application of heat to the body for pain relief and health. It can be beneficial to those with stiff muscles and injuries to the deep tissue of the skin. It can also benefit a wide variety of people from sports athletes to those with arthritis.

Heat Therapy can come in many different forms. Some include:
     • A Hot cloth
     • Hot water
     • Heating pad
     • Hydrocollator packs
     • Heat therapy wraps
     • Whirlpool baths

Heat therapy is most commonly used for rehabilitation purposes. The therapeutic effects of heat include increasing the extensibility of collagen tissues; decreasing joint stiffness; reducing pain; relieving muscle spasms; reducing inflammation, and increasing blood flow. Heat therapy can also be used for the treatment of headaches and migraines. Many people who suffer from chronic headaches also suffer from tight muscles in their neck and upper back. The application of constant heat to the back/upper back area can help to release the tension associated with headache pain.

So this winter, if you are having any discomfort or tightness, give heat therapy a try to loosen up sore muscles and joints before they lead to bigger issues.
