The Office, The Booze Cruise, and Alcohol Test Strips

Working at Dunder Mifflin seems like it would be plenty of fun, with or without booze. In season 2, episode 11, the staff embarks on a cruise on Lake Wallenpaupack in the middle of January. While Steve Carell’s character, Michael Scott, plans to use the cruise as a mix of a party and leadership training, chaos ensues. “Captain Jack” puts Dwight Schrute in charge of a prop wheel, Jim from the Office brings his girlfriend on the cruise and makes it awkward for Pam, and Michael continues to try to regain control of the event.

The Office - Booze Cruise Any work event that involves alcohol can be tricky, and booze cruises are no exceptions. While treating employees to an evening of fun and drinks can be a great reward, it is also important to keep safety as the priority. Alcohol and drugs may introduce a host of challenges in any work environment. To prevent accidents, injuries, and harm, it may be advisable to institute alcohol and drug tests for employment.

Work events with alcohol are obviously not the proper situation for alcohol and drug testing, as the likelihood that employees will test positive is quite high. Pre-employment drug screens, however, and routine employment drug testing are a different story. Many businesses require their employees to pass urinalysis drug tests and alcohol tests to verify that they are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs while in the workplace. CWI Medical has alcohol test strips , drug screening tests, and breathalyzers to help make this easier.

One of the best options for fast, easy screening to detect the presence of alcohol are Alco-Screen Alcohol Test Strips . The Alco-Screen 02 Alcohol Test Strips are DOT approved saliva alcohol screening test strips that are regularly used by the USCG. This one-step, four minute saliva screening test can be performed by anyone and requires no prior training. The Alco-Screen 02 provides immediate results to confirm whether an individual is under the influence of alcohol. The test detects the BAC (blood alcohol content) of a person by using their saliva and will indicate if the BAC is over 0.2%

Another way to test for the presence of alcohol in one’s system is to use a breathalyzer . CWI Medical has several different types of breathalyzers that can help keep people who have been drinking safe before they get behind the wheel of a vehicle. With an ultra-compact design, the BACtrack Go Breathalyzer is the smallest breathalyzer on the market and can easily attach to any key-chain for subtlety and convenience.  BACtrack also has the BACtrack Mobile Breathalyzer, which turns any smart phone into a police-grade breathalyzer. This high-tech device has ZeroLine ® technology to estimate when a user’s BAC will return to 0.00% and can even connect with an Uber to ensure a safe ride home.
